Starting Thursday, July 16th you will be required to wear a face mask in the City of Springfield any place social distancing is not feasible. In the unanimous vote by Springfield City Council, the ordinance was passed, all businesses including those with outdoor actives must require a face covering or could lose their business license. Citizens who refuse to wear a mask in public can be fined up to $100 per the ordinance. Places exempt from this rule are swimming pools, when you're eating or drinking or when social distancing is possible.
The ordinance is broken down like this:
Take effect Thursday, July 16
Expire in 90 days, unless council changes the date
Not wearing a face-covering could result in a $100 fine for individuals and businesses
Anyone older than 12 must wear a covering in public; encouraged for ages 3-11
People with certain health conditions, trouble breathing, are exempt
