One of my favorite things about this area are all of the walking/biking trails and parks. From wanting a relaxing stroll to an intense bike ride, there is a trail that you will fall in love with. Not only that, but we have so many parks! Gorgeous parks! Here are a few of my favorites in the area!
Sequiota Park
Sequiota has become an all time favorite over the years. I've gone biking, walking and just went to enjoy the scenery. This park contains an entrance to a cave! Once a year, a guided canoe tour is led through the cave where you can site some bats from time to time! If you prefer paved trails, there are plenty of those, but they also have unpaved trails that are an enjoyable and easy hike for those comfortable on uneven grounds. You can also enjoy the running water by the creek that runs alongside the walking trails.
Jordan Valley Park
This is the park that you want to visit for some inspiration. It has incredible sculptures along with an outdoor theatre. It is neighbored with The Creamery Arts Center which is recognized as Springfield's go to for all things art!! The kids can play in the large water fountain during the warmer months and visit an incredible lights display during the holiday season. It isn't uncommon to see many individuals laying out at this park for some afternoon relaxation/inspiration.
Nathaniel Greene Botanical Gardens
For all of the plant lovers out there, this might be your park of choice. Nathaniel Greene is recognized for it's beautiful gardens, butterfly house and enjoyable walking trails. The Greenway Trails go directly through this park and run alongside a creek. You will see people walking their dogs, kids playing in the park, cyclists and runners enjoying the paved trails, etc. This is probably one of the larger parks in Springfield, so find your favorite spot and enjoy.
There are so many more parks in our area, some that I'm sure I haven't visited yet or discovered. That's one of the great things about Springfield; it feels like a city, but also has all of the charm of a small town.
