For the 3rd straight year FSBO transactions dropped from 12% to 8% according to the National Association of Realtors. In 2016 FSBO's reported the hardest part of working without a Realtor was getting the right price for their home and managing the paperwork associated with a Real Estate transaction.
According to NAR, the median FSBO sales price rose slightly from $185,000 to $190,000 last year, compared to the median price of a home sold using an agent, which stands at $250,000. (NAR)
So why is it so important to work with a Realtor? The first thing is price...the above stat proves time and time again that a Realtor can get you more for your home even after commissions. Second is the legal aspect, agents are trained over and over again to handle the paperwork associated with legally selling your home, they manage the titling, deed transfer and lenders. All of these can be a major headache and can often lead to a major problem is not done accurately.
