Fall Flowers

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know this year has included a lot of plants. I now have 6 plants in my office and still want more! Luckily, indoor plants are easier to take care of in our ever-changing Missouri weather. I also have several plants outside my home. Fall will be approaching soon with cooler temperatures, but I'm just not ready to say goodbye to all of my outdoor plants. For those who are in the same boat as me, I decided to research what plants are best for surviving through the cooler Fall season. Here are a few of my favorites that I found...

Of course, the first plant that I thought of was Mums. They are super easy to take care of and bloom in the most beautiful Fall colors. They don't survive into our Winter season, but they sure do make Fall look beautiful.

Next on the list is a flower I've never heard of, but I think I have actually planted it before, I just didn't know what it was. It is called Alyssum. This plant will grow and expand to the edges of your garden bed or flow over the edges of pots. They give off a wonderful fragrance and can survive well into fall due to them being a hardier plant.

Lastly, here is a nice plant for a bit of an edgier look, Croton. It produces these bright red, orange, yellow and sometimes purple leaves that are stunning. What is wonderful about this plant is that you can just bring it inside when it gets too cold out. Once it warms back up and it is no longer frosting outside, it can sit back on the porch. I love the versatility it has to offer.

For more ideas for fall plants, check out our Lowe's here in Springfield. I actually almost got a Croton just this past weekend!

Tip: If you are looking to sell your house this fall, these are great plants to consider to keep that curb appeal at it's best!
